Hidden Flush Buttons & Tile Insert Flush Plates

A minimalist bathroom feels clean, fresh, and sleek, but traditional flush buttons break the continuity of tiled wall surfaces and disrupt the overall aesthetic.

To solve this, EDPLIT designed a hidden flush plate that delivers the same functionality as a standard mechanism, while remaining fully integrated into the wall. The tileable flush plate removes visual interruptions by concealing the control system behind the tile finish, keeping the surface clean and continuous.

What Is A Tile-Integrated Flush Button?

The EDPLIT hidden flush button is a discreet in-wall system designed for installation behind tile finishes. It activates a standard flushing mechanism installed within the wall.

From the user’s perspective, the visible surface remains continuous and uncluttered, as the EDPLIT patented tileable flush plate is fully integrated into the tile finish and operates the flush system without exposed components.

How Does It Work?

While the EDPLIT hidden flush plate is totally out of the way, it works like a traditional system. The difference is in how it is integrated into the wall.

  1. The flush mechanism is located behind the wall within a standard concealed cistern system, where the actuator is 100% hidden from view.

  2. Above it sits a rigid activation plate placed directly under the tiled surface. The plate itself serves as the force-transfer interface.

  3. When you press the tile (which is not a button itself, but a decorative surface), the pressure is transmitted through the tile (precisely cut using tile cutting tools for flush button installation) to the activation plate.

  4. The plate activates (mechanically or pneumatically) the concealed flush mechanism that, in turn, triggers a standard single or dual flush in the cistern.

Even though it is built into the tiled surface, the system can be easily accessed for maintenance through a removable tile module, following the same principle used in concealed access panels. While the inside mechanism remains the same as in standard systems, the difference is that tileable flush plates do not break the flow of the modern aesthetic.
